Let's Get Baking!

For my Bryant (Saturday activity) I chose baking, where we go to a professional bakery and learn how to make different kinds of pastries. This week, I made Lemon Madeleines! I wanted to share the steps to get to this tasty end result :)

I actually made this! Pretty sweet, right?

You'll need...

- 2 eggs

- 1/2 cup of white sugar

- 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter

- 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon of baking powder

- 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract

- 1/2 lemon (juiced and zested - this is a fancy word for 'scrap the outer coloured part of the peel)

- 1/3 cup of powdered sugar for decoration (optional)

Directions

1. In a large bowl, blend the eggs, sugar and butter thoroughly

2. On low speed, add in flour, baking powder, lemon, and vanilla

3. Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and let the dough sit for one hour

4. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees C

5. Butter and flour the madeleine molds

6. Whisk the batter and spoon it into the mold until 3/4 of each one is full

7. Bake for 10 minutes

8. Remove from mold and let it cool

9. (optional) Dust with powdered sugar

And there you have it! The perfect recipe for a batch of perfect Lemon Madeleines!
