The Carnegie Medal Reading Group lets you vote for the book that deserves the award!
Our school's librarian is amazing. He knew I loved reading, so he asked me if I wanted to join the new reading group.
My friends also opted in (much to my persuasion) and had our first meeting a few days ago. It was so nice! The group itself was quite small, but we were united with a cause: a passion for books.
The shortlisted books came out and my first pick was 'The Lie Tree' by Frances Hardinge. I actually managed to finish the book before I wrote this, and I can confidently tell you that it was amazing! The story was well-crafted and even though it's supposed to be a 'book for children', I thought the hidden meanings behind it could be something more serious and sinister.
The current plan is to rotate the books so that everyone can have a read of the shortlisted books. Then we will probably do some creative activities related to the books. And when the time is right (in this case, it's sometime in March) we can actually vote for the best book as a group. This is going to be one epic book club!
